S60 Rocks, because when I was in Israel, I was bike riding with a couple of friends in the desert and we got lost. So i took out my shiny, new S60 and used my A-GPS, which none of my other friends had, to find out where we were and how to get out, and it got me where i needed to go. Thanks S60!!!!!

3) rapidstar
I was at a party.. a Girl who wanted to dance for a specific song.. couldn’t play it from her iPod. I pulled my N95-3.. googled it & downloaded in 3 mins on at&t 3G.. played the song in the next min! All the folks at the party were IMPRESSED! with me ofcourse Thanks to S60 & at&t for the 3G connection!

Last Christmas my church helped provide food for senior adults who were struggling financially. I was set to deliver about 14 meals to different houses all over the city on a Saturday morning. I stopped by the office to print out emails and get directions only to discover that our server was down. I was in trouble until I realized that I had all the emails on my s60 Nokia. I was able to retrieve all the emails on my phone, make phone calls to all the seniors, and use the built-in GPS to guide me all around town to make deliveries. On that crazy Saturday in December of 2008, 14 wonderful senior adults would have gone with out Christmas meals without the help of s60.

Ill start off by saying, you never know what u have until you actually need it and use it. My friends and i went out to eat for my 10 yr anniversary, so we decided to go to a place called the River cafe, we called and made reservations butnone of us bothered to get directions, this is wear the story begins, i start up my n85 and start garmin, type in river cafe brooklyn and bam it pops up, hit drive too and we are off, while driving i hook my phone to my car speakers and start playing tunes as i get voice instructions thru the gps on the phone,My friends are astounded, so they ask what type of phone is that, i tell them a nokia n85, , i tell them this phone is using an s60 platform and its open, they ask what do u mean its open, i explain im not limited to what comes on my device similar to your computer i can enhance this device by adding programs and features i need to make the device suit my needs completely.Well we finally arrive at the river cafe which is a restaurant that over looks the Brooklyn bridge, and low and behold no one brings a camera, so i take out the n85 and shoot a few pictures and even take a few videos and again they are astounded at the quality of the pics on the phone. I tell them take down this web address and when you get in look at the pictures because im uploading them to my flickr account now. Well that floored them i mean they were all so inquisitive about s60 and n85 and the devices other capabilities, but i did have to tell them we are here to celebrate my 10 yr anniversary so we can continue this another time . well we had a great dinner and a few more spurts of discussion about s60, and the next day 1 of them ask if there is a qwerty device similar or in a s60 platform, and that night he bid on an e71 on ebay .

6) msbrett
S60 Rocks because it enabled me to get an excellent photo of my first child less than an hour after he was born and has enabled me to keep getting excellent photo’s and video of him ever since.

7) imPHOreal (S60users)
Walking home from school one day, I bumped into an older man who walked around with an old note pad and pencil. He seemed lost so when I stopped at the crosswalk, he approached me for directions to a Radio Shack nearby. I didn’t know where one was but I told him I could find out. I took out my E71-2 and easily and quickly loaded up Google Maps. He asked me what I needed with my phone when he was asking for directions. I showed him turn-by-turn the nearest Radio Shack (3 blocks away) and he was shocked and wrote everything down into his notepad. He thanked me continuously and apologized if he could also ask me for a nearby FedEx as well. A minute later he got his directions. Smiling, he asked if there was anything he could get for me. I told him it was okay and that I was on my way home. He had nice teeth for an old man; thanks S60.

8) Fredric Mitchell
I was recently on vacation to Florida with my son (6 months) and wife to Disney World and really wasn’t sure what to expect. I took my N85 to take it through its paces.

I was able to get great video (about 10 videos) of his first time in the pool and walking around Magic Kingdom.

I took tons of great photos (~80) of his first time being at the zoo, animal kingdom ride, Mickey and Minnie adventures, AND at Space Mountain!

We decided to go out to Cape Canaveral and see the Space Shuttle. The road was pretty bland and I didn’t know the stations in the rental car. We used the FM transmitter to play some decent tunes through the radio, Google Maps to find our way through the back roads of swampy Florida, and used Qik to stream the experience to our family and friends.

When all was said and done, I was able to upload the pics via Share Online to Flickr as the trip went on so moms back home could share in the experience. Truly an awesome phone.

My Current Mobile – 5800XM

My Mobile – 5800 Review
I was one of the people that pre-ordered the 5800 from Nokia USA, so now I have about 2 months of solid usage with the phone.  Long story short, it really went above and beyond my expectations.  It was replacing an N85-3 I had only gotten maybe 2 months prior.  I was skeptical at first that the 5800’s camera wouldn’t satisfy me or that S60v5 would be too rough around the edges.   Both fears were quickly quieted and I put my N85 up for sale 10 days after getting the 5800.

I’ll spare you the typical review points and get right to the key features that really make the phone shine for me.

1. Screen Size/Resolution/Touch.  The large screen really makes everything better.  I can see more of the map in Google maps.  More content is loaded in browser. Photos are easier to share with friends. Bigger screen just equals better!  Resistive touch gets a bad rap but after a week of use it really grew on me.  I can type fairly quickly using the full on-screen QWERTY.  I recently borrowed my friend’s iPhone to test something and I found typing much more difficult.  Granted, in about 30 minutes I would have been perfectly fine, but any on-screen keyboard will have some learning curve.

2. S60 Applications & Multitasking:  Some times you NEED to run more than one application at a time.  For example, let’s look at my typical work out routine, running through Hoboken.  First, I fire up my bluetooth headphones, and select a playlist, then launch Nokia Sports Tracker, and then I start my run.  Parts of my run have great views of NYC so I often stop at the end of the pier to take a shot or two of the Hoboken sky line.  Lots of my favorite applications have been or will be ported to S60v5 (touch).  So far I have installed Nokia Sports Tracker, Barcode, joikuSpot, Qik, Gravity, Nokia Messaging, Google Maps, Opera Mini, PhoneTorch, and NimBuzz.

3. Camera – This was possibly my biggest worry coming from the N82 and N85.  The 5800’s camera is nowhere near as good as my previous N-Series handsets, but it is acceptable.   In the right situations it even takes great photos.  This one was taken in my office.

After reading a post on The Nokia Blog i was able to take some really cool high contrast black and white shots with the 5800

So after 2 months I have been more than pleased with my purchase. Will the 5800 survive through June with the release of a new iPhone and the N97?  Who knows.  But it has been a great phone to introduce S60v5.

Tell Us Why S60 Rocks and Win Some Music Downloads

Hey guys, here we go again! Another S60 competition sponsored by S60users.com. Last time we had a “I S60…” competition and sandini_power and THETRUTH#34 (from howardforums.com) were the happy recipients of some nice S60 swag. This time around, the prizes are different. We will have 50 downloads from the Nokia Music Store for the winner and 25 for the runner up.

What we want from you are stories where owning an S60 phone paid off, where they were worth every penny, an experience where your phone really shone. As usual, Flyinace2000 and I will pick the 10 finalists and put them up in a poll. Again, the winner will receive 50 songs from the Nokia Music Store and the runner up, 25 songs.

We will be receiving entries until 12:00 AM PST, Friday (May 15th) and I imagine we will keep the poll open until 11:30 AM of the following Tuesday (May 19th). You can enter the contest here or in the thread at HowardForums.

Also, you can now follow S60users on twitter.  This account will only have S60User news and events.  If you still want to follow my personal twitter account you can still follow me using Flyinace200.

Good luck everybody and send us your stories!
