Hello to one and to all. Our next meet will take place at the Nokia store on Friday February 19th, 2010 at 6:30pm. Phones and more will be discussed at our favorite venue. From there, we will head off to Brother Jimmy’s on 77th and 2nd Avenue for some good BBQ and Swamp Water!

Also I am considering a name change. S60 Users no longer describes us. The group has grown to include almost every smartphone platform. I think our name should reflect that. More details to follow.

I decided to skip August for a meetup. My day job is a little crazy during August getting all the school computers ready for September and lots of people take vacations. September 18th is the next NYC S60 Users meetup. Come on out to the Nokia Flagship Store and bring whatever shiny new mobile phone you have been playing with and show it off to the group.

James Whatley of The Really Mobile Project and The Mobile Geeks of London will be in town the week after our event so we will be merging to two! We are not sure of the date yet but it will be sometime during the week of September 21st. As for this week’s event, consider it “canceled”. I know many of you might of made special plans for this event so we will still have an unofficial meet up at the same time (and the same place as soon as I confirm with Nokia). I will post more details about next week’s joint event once I get them.
Remember when I
said June would be an exciting month for mobiles? Well in case you didn’t believe me Nokia is hosting a N97 launch party in NYC and you are all invited. The event will be on June 25th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Marquee night club (Google Maps). Like any good party you better make sure you are on “The List”. June has been an exciting month for the mobile world. Apple released their updated iPhone, Palm launched the Pre and Nokai has launched the N97 and N86. No matter what phone is in your pocket it has been a great month. So come on out and join the discussion. Details for the meetup are below. See everyone soon!

The next NYC S60 User Group meeting is good to go! It is a Friday night and you considering hanging out with NYC’s mobile phone blogging community and other S60 enthusiasts, you better thing of a good cover story to tell your friends. How about secret agent training for the government? They should believe that. Little will they know that you will actually be handling some of Nokia hottest unreleased phones and discussing the finer points of mobile computing. Afterward we head out to the NYC night to find good drinks and fun times. Not a hard task in New York. Hope to see you all there!

Last night was a real treat for the S60 User Group. Chanse Arrington from Nokia showed up carrying a N97 for us to play with. Very impressive hardware. Here is an update for the January meet up. We still don’t have a firm date due to holiday craziness, but i should know more soon. The manager at the Flagship store is attempting to get some people from S60 to come talk to us. As soon as I have more details I will post them.
