This is still somewhat of a work in progress. So far everything works except audio and hardware GPU acceleration. I can’t get audio to work reliably and since Apple never made a GMA500 based notebook we will likely never have accelerated graphics on this hankintosh.

Thanks for all that made it out Friday night. As usually we got to play with an ever more production ready N97. In the past 3 months we have seen the N97 go from nothing more than hardware with buggy unusable software to a impressive hand held. June should be a great month for Nokia at the rate the N97 is maturing. You can check out the photos from the meet up below.
Ever wish that a company would just ask you how to make their product better? Chanse Arrington of Nokia has posted that very question on HowardForums asking for feedback from users. He wants to know everything that you love and hate about S60. This is your chance to give some direct feedback to Nokia for them to take into consideration for upcoming versions of S60. Head over to HowardForums to weigh in.
Last night was the March S60 Users meet up at the Nokia Flagship Store. Besides the usual crowd, the N97 and N86 both showed up dressed in white. The N97 has really come a long way since the first time we played with it. The software has matured incredibly in only 2 months. With a scheduled release some time in June Nokia has a real winner on its hands. The N86 also was dressed to impress in white. Mark, of The Nokia Blog fame, took some great videos last night.

Shakkan on HowardForums asked me as an Apple user who chose a S60 devices (N85 and the 5800XM) over the iPhone, why? Here is my response.
I have owned both the iPhone and iPhone 3G and both times i went back to my Nokia. The original iphone lasted me about 3 months but the lack of real applications and crap camera brought me back to S60. The iphone 3G was much better. lots of apps, but the camera was still a deal breaker. The other thing that has since been fixed was the HORRIBLE battery life and 3g performance. Both were fixed with firmware updates.
So why S60? I guess it comes down to power. The ability to truly multitask is a real plus. To really enjoy an apple product you have to agree to use it how Steve wants you to use it. I am ok with that paradigm for OSX, iTunes, iPod. But my mobile has to be “open”. I demand to much from it. For me the iphone would be perfect if they added two things. 3-5mp camera with decent optics and ….. wow i guess i don’t have an “and” any more.
The iphone is sexy and that drew me in both times to buy, but something about it always let me down and my nokia was always there to take me back. Honestly, i will probably buy whatever iPhone is announced this summer, maybe i will keep it maybe i won’t.
